God's Poem Writen By His Hand!

Ephesians 2:10 KJV Bible For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10 NIV Bible For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

There is a fabulously interesting Greek word, “poema” which the King James translators render as “workmanship.” From this word we get our English word, “poem.” Literally, it means to me that we Christians are God’s poems written by the very hand of God. To meditate upon this simply makes my day! My mind’s eyes strains to understand the mystery of how a regular guy like me could be called God’s workmanship. It cannot get any better than this!

Each day is like a stanza in my life’s sonnet! Everyone I meet reads me; every day should rhyme with attraction towards Christ, my Beloved, the rhythms of the moment are but my Creator’s lustrous literature of a loving Savior incarnate into my human condition! This is the way Jesus writes my life.

What does It Mean To Be His Poem?

When I ponder what it means to be His poem, I am overwhelmed.  It is  like when, as a child, I discovered, “I can ride that bike”! I feel like I am knowing the unknowable; it is as if, for the first time in my life, I can partially measure the height of His love.  God is saying that I am his poem, written by His very hand.  In one glimmer of understanding I have touched the cusp of His artistry; I no longer see myself as commonplace human existence; I am His workmanship, infused by Christ Jesus, radiating the ordained goodness of God.

In addition, He is the Creator.  His poems are all masterpieces!  This workmanship is the product of the Worker, and I reflect His image.  However, I feel so ordinary.  How can I be His poem?  My “rhyme” seems so imperfect and awkward; my rhythm seems unbalanced.  My out of the way life cannot be destined for such perfection!

I am God's creation

Creation?
Creation?

Did Christ make a mistake in me?

Did Christ make a gaffe in me? Surely, this is a mistake? Is Paul’s message here overwrought? God forbid!

Is a Poet not a maker of poems! The Poet is the Worker and the poem is his work! The Master Poet takes words, simple words, out of the way words, often expressions others reject; He takes these mundane expressions, merges and weaves them until they express what is in His mind and will! My life is a work in progress, and He is the Craftsman. I am a project in the making; I am every day maturing and perfecting. The image of paradise is being engraved within every word of my life! Only when the poem is through will He call me home!

This is the poetry of the Christian

Herein is the mystery message of the poem revealed.  It is in the words “we should walk in them .”  His workmanship is read by others and our lives should reflect Him in us.  The beauty of this poetry is the continued existence and growth of this Church of God throughout history.  We are lives in Christ with verses and stanza often imperfect and stumbling but ever longing to meet our heavenly Lover!  Such love ever attracts men and women to Christ; and this is the poetry of heaven.  Every precious soul that is won to Christ is testimony to the splendor of His workmanship!

For: (Romans 10:14-15 NIV BibleHow, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  (15)  And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

Heaven makes me in its image; God is still writing in me; His only begotten Son is ever energizing me with life everlasting and if my life says anything, it is that one day I will be with Him, who now is so richly within me!  This is the poetry of the Christian!

Wbisbill,

This is a beautiful poem.  So often it seems our lives are anything but a poem, but God makes no mistakes and He delights in using us to attract others to Himself.

Praise God. ~ eddie

Wow! I am a poem! How wonderful. When I write poetry I certainly want my words to do more than speak; I want them to breathe - and further I want them to breathe into the person that reads them. My poems have depth and value and in a very creative way utter who I am. So, I am His poem - Wow! I won't forget this one. Thanks
